Teresa (Teri) Tynes is an experienced writer, editor, and web content strategist with a background in print and digital publishing, the arts, and nonprofit communications.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Teri Tynes attended Oberlin College and The University Of Texas, receiving a M.A. in American Civilization. For eighteen years she worked as a college instructor, designing and teaching interdisciplinary courses in the social sciences and the arts. She has taught at The University of Texas, Southwestern University, and the University of South Carolina. At the University of South Carolina, she taught courses in Contemporary Visual Culture, Feminist Art, Modern Architecture, and the History of Photography.
Tynes brings several years of writing and editorial experience in academic journals, newspapers, and other online platforms. She has worked as the Managing Editor for The Moving Image, an academic journal for moving image archivists, and as Editorial Director for Re:Frame, an online platform of the Tribeca Film Institute.
An experienced digital communications specialist, Teri managed the digital communications of the global agency of The United Methodist Church, including email marketing, website development, social media, and mobile platforms. She has served as the Director of Communications for Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church and then as a Communications Associate with the Sisters of Charity of New York (SCNY). She currently provides consulting services to the SCNY Ministry Network.
Her arts management experience includes positions as Gallery Director for City Art, a leading contemporary art gallery in Columbia, South Carolina, and manager for a private fine art gallery in New York.
As an arts consultant, she had recently worked with established artists in several different media. She has also worked with the Greenwich Art Society to raise the profile of the organization in the regional art scene.
Tynes is a well-known and award-winning blogger. In 2007 Tynes created the website Walking Off the Big Apple, a strolling guide to New York City. She built a global audience through writing original content about New York as well as cultivating fans through social media. The Webby Awards has twice awarded Walking Off the Big Apple as an Official Honoree in the category of personal blog/website. She is a member of the IADAS (International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences) and a judge in the annual Webby Awards.
Tynes has published reviews of art exhibitions and multi-media performances for ArtPapers, The Dallas Morning News, and other publications, and she is the author of several catalogue essays on contemporary art.
